Child Inclusive Practice (5 Sessions +)
Empowering Children, Strengthening Families: Mediation with Their Voice in Mind
Service Description
Child Inclusive Mediation Counselling (CIMC) is a specialized approach designed to ensure that children’s voices, experiences, and needs are considered during family mediation. When parents separate or experience conflict, children are often deeply affected but may struggle to express their feelings. CIMC provides a safe and supportive environment where children can share their thoughts with a trained professional, helping parents make informed, child-focused decisions. At the heart of CIMC is the belief that children deserve to be heard without being burdened by adult concerns. A trained child consultant meets with the child in a neutral and age-appropriate setting, allowing them to express their emotions, concerns, and hopes. These insights are then carefully shared with parents during mediation, helping them understand their child’s perspective while maintaining a focus on their well-being. This process encourages cooperative parenting, reduces conflict, and supports healthier family transitions. CIMC also provides emotional and psychological benefits by validating a child’s experiences, reducing feelings of helplessness, and fostering open communication between parents and children. The process is not about making children choose sides but rather ensuring their emotional well-being is prioritized in decisions that shape their future. By integrating CIMC into family dispute resolution, parents gain valuable insights into their child's needs, enabling them to make more informed and compassionate decisions. This child-centered approach promotes stability, emotional security, and healthier long-term relationships within the family.
